DOST advisory body calls for 2014 scientific poster entries

The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), an advisory body of the Department of Science and Technology, is now accepting papers for the Scientific Posters Session, a poster competition to be held  as part of the organization’s  36thAnnual Scientific  Meeting (ASM) scheduled on July 9-10, 2014 in Manila.

The poster competition has six categories, namely Agricultural Sciences; Biological Sciences; Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences; Engineering Sciences and Technology;  Health Sciences; and Social Sciences. 

The papers must be original and have neither been presented in any other event or forum nor entered in any other competition. It must be the minimum of an undergraduate thesis and must have no preliminary data. 

To qualify for the competition, authors must submit their abstracts to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. not later than January 15, 2014, and affix a certification of originality for every entry submitted. 

Authors will be notified of their papers’ acceptance or rejection starting in May 2014.For those whose papers qualify  for the Scientific Posters Session, they will receive further instructions regarding poster presentation details. Each author may present a maximum of three traditional posters;  as major author in one poster and as co-author in the two other posters. NAST ‘s ASM gathers the country’s scientists, researchers, and technology experts for a series of roundtable discussions on how to best tap the country’sscience and technology capabilities in order to solve current national problems and fast track economic advancement. 

Aside from the Scientific Posters Session, ASM also includes recognition awards for new academicians, Outstanding Young Scientists, Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Prize for Young Scientist in the Philippines, NAST Talent Search for Young Scientists, Outstanding Scientific Papers, Outstanding Book/Monograph Awards, NAST Environmental Science Award, NAST Award for Outstanding Research in Tropical Medicine, and the Dr. Geminiano T. de Ocampo Visionary Awards for Medical Research.
