Laboratory Animal Research: IACUC Basics and Laboratory Animal Handling
The 2-day workshop was held last December 11-12, 2018 at the University of the Visayas – Gullas College of Medicine. The objective of the workshop was to equip researchers and IACUCs on reviewing and approving researches involving animal subjects. Several lectures on laboratory animal research such as its care and use, biosafety, management, and experimental techniques were discussed by Dr. Daria Manalo and Dr. Rodolfo Perez of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). Furthermore, the Animal Welfare Act in the Philippines was also tackled by Dr. Daniel Ventura and Dr. Verna Agriam of the Department of Agriculture – Region 7.
